The Gauls (Galli)
The Gauls lived in Gallia, north and west of Italy, and also in the plain south of the Alps. A Gallic army took Rome in the time of Camillus. Much later, Caesar fought a long war in Gaul.

Gallia is the land. Galli are the people. Cisalpine Gaul is the part on the Italian side of the Alps.
