Reading grammar
- Subjunctive uses that help reading: purpose, indirect command, indirect question, and cum clauses.
- Deponent verbs, gerunds, and indirect statement with past main verbs.
- Students still are not asked to label constructions by name, except on the advanced reading exam.
Background in context
- Republic and early Empire figures, Italian geography, and stories such as Daphne, Pygmalion, and Baucis and Philemon may appear when a passage calls for them.
- Calendar words such as Kalends, Nones, and Ides, and ceremonies such as weddings and triumphs, can appear the same way.
