Latin Launchpad
About

Focused Latin practice for every class day.

Latin Launchpad is an independent educational resource that helps students in grades 3–8 build confidence with Latin vocabulary, grammar, phrases, and culture. It is a course on School Launch, a classical Christian learning site.

Why it exists

Latin is easiest to retain when students can practice in short, repeatable sessions. Latin Launchpad brings lessons, quick checks, study tools, printable activities, and progress tracking together in one approachable place.

What students can do

The same lessons are also published as readable topic pages for vocabulary, grammar, Roman culture, mottoes, derivatives, Annual Exam Study, and printables. Browse topics.

Our approach

The site is designed as a practice companion, not a replacement for a teacher, curriculum, or individualized academic guidance. Content is organized for steady skill-building and can be used at home, in a classroom, or alongside another Latin program.

Word lists and sources

The classroom map is drawn from Natural Earth coastlines, rivers, and lakes, which are public domain, and from a relief hillshade of NOAA ETOPO1, also public domain. Places sit at their latitudes and longitudes.

The lesson word lists are this site's own. Core-word sets, labeled on the lesson list, add high-frequency Latin that those lists did not already include. Frequency ranks used to choose and order those words come from the Dickinson College Commentaries Latin Core Vocabulary by Christopher Francese, shared under CC BY-SA 3.0. The English glosses on this site are original; the Commentaries' definitions are not copied. Macrons and dictionary forms follow Lewis & Short quantities in the Morpheus Latin stem lexicon. The ranks are not a textbook word list.
